Technical SEO

Is your site structure silently blocking Google?

A complete technical audit reveals the crawl, indexation, and performance issues that hold back even well-written sites.

What technical SEO actually covers

Technical SEO is the foundation every other SEO effort stands on. If Google cannot efficiently crawl and render your pages, the best content in the world will rank below its potential. Ashford Group's technical audits examine your site's crawl budget, internal linking architecture, log file data, Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, FID/INP), hreflang tags, structured data markup, canonical chains, and redirect health. We use Screaming Frog, Google Search Console, Ahrefs Site Audit, and, when log file access is available, custom log analysis scripts. The output is a prioritised issue register — not a PDF of screenshots — with each item tagged by estimated traffic impact, implementation effort, and the team responsible (developer, content editor, or CMS admin).

How a technical audit engagement works

The engagement opens with a 45-minute scoping call in which we confirm site access, establish baseline KPIs in GA4 and Search Console, and agree on the crawl scope. The full crawl and manual spot-checks take approximately five working days. You then receive a shared Notion workspace containing the issue register, a prioritised sprint board, and a short-form video walkthrough of the three most impactful findings. A 60-minute review call follows, after which your team has 30 days of Slack access for clarification questions. A re-crawl and delta report is included eight weeks after delivery to measure what the fixes achieved.

What you receive at the end of the audit

Concrete deliverables, not a traffic-light summary.

Prioritised issue register

Every technical fault documented with reproduction steps, severity score, and a direct link to the affected URL — ready to hand to a developer without additional briefing.

Video walkthrough

A recorded, narrated summary of the top findings so that stakeholders who cannot attend the live call can absorb the key points at their own pace.

Eight-week re-crawl

A delta report comparing the pre- and post-fix crawl states confirms which issues were resolved and flags any regressions introduced during the implementation sprint.

30 days of Slack access

After the review call, your team can ask clarification questions directly in a shared Slack channel. Response time is within one business day.

“The technical audit from Ashford Group identified a canonical chain affecting 40% of our product pages that two previous agencies had completely missed. After fixing it in a single development sprint, our indexed page count jumped by over 600 pages within three weeks.”
